My artwork is a reflection of who I am. I create bold and colorful pieces meant to make the viewer escape the world around them. I have evolved immensely as an artist and will continue to do so. For example, in the beginning I could only create representational art, even if the figures or subjects were slightly abstracted.
However, complete abstraction has always fascinated me. It has taken me time and patience to get the point of no control with my expressions. When creating I select my colors and the music I’m in the mood for and let my utensil do the talking for me. What I end up with is a piece that speaks my inner feelings and allows its viewers to interpret whatever it is they feel while looking at my work of art.
From the time I was a child it was always exciting to find different materials and see what type of art I could create. Right now I am really into acrylic painting with the impasto effect because I love texture. I also use different mediums ranging from pastel to oils and watercolors. I am free and open to using any medium rather it is two dimensional or three.
Graduating from the Savannah College of Art and Design with a BFA in Fashion Design has made me feel comfortable expressing myself in all different mediums and outlets. I believe that fashion and art are one, they both demonstrates an individual’s inner feelings in an outward expression. I have noticed that in my art I create as if I am designing.
I look forward to continuing developing my skills in talent in every area of art whether fine arts or fashion.
